California Adventist Federal Credit Union
Serving the Community Since 1952
Our History
California Adventist Federal Credit Union (CAFCU) was organized in 1952 as the country's first Seventh-day Adventist Credit Union. Its charter allows us to serve Adventist Church members and the employees of any and all Adventist Church or Church Member-owned businesses of all sizes and types. The Credit Union now touches thousands of present and past members all over the globe each year. Membership is open to individuals who wish to join, but you must initially reside in California. Once a member, you can move and still be a member even through your move out of California.
Home base in Glendale California, the California Adventist Federal Credit Union provides services now through a new system of branches and a new organization structure now being added as this is being written.
In 1986, Glendale Adventist Credit Union, as it was initially named, became a Federally Chartered Credit Union, and the name was changed to California Adventist Federal Credit Union. This new association with the National Credit Union Administration made CAFCU eligible for participation in the federal deposit insurance program. All funds are insured up to the maximum permitted by law.
California Adventist Federal Credit Union is member-owned and, as such, is operated by a Board of Directors elected by the members. Each quarter, a Supervisory Committee made up of CAFCU-elected members audits the activities of the Credit Union. In addition, each year the government's regulatory agency charged with Credit Union, overseeing audits (NCUA) CAFCU.
To better serve our members as a full-service financial institution, we continuously analyze our market and your needs to bring new products and services to remain competitive and satisfy the found needs. We know how you feel because we are one of you. Your voice is heard all year long. Continue to speak to your board and your staff.
